AKOSH Consultation and Training Services

The AKOSH Consultation and Training Section offers free, confidential support to help employers improve workplace safety. Consultants assist in recognizing and evaluating hazards and provide guidance on eliminating and reducing risks throughout the worksite. All consultation visits and training sessions are cost-free, and consultants do not issue citations or penalties, ensuring employers can openly address safety concerns without fear of enforcement action.

Employers can request on-site evaluations, customized training, or both, depending on their needs. These services are designed to fit the specific conditions and operations of each workplace. Requests are submitted through a simple online request sheet and processed promptly. All visits and training remain confidential and focus solely on helping employers strengthen their safety programs and protect their workforce. For assistance, employers may contact Consultation and Training at (800) 656-4972.

Partnership Program

Partnership Program (Overview)
AKOSH’s Partnership Program allows employers to work collaboratively with AKOSH to strengthen workplace safety and health. Partners commit to improving hazard controls, engaging employees, reducing injuries and costs, and maintaining effective safety and health management systems. In return, qualifying sites may receive lower priority programmed inspections or a one year deferral from random inspections. Employers can start by requesting a free comprehensive consultation to identify and correct hazards and begin building a foundation for partnership.

Employers with exemplary safety systems may qualify for:

Alaska Seafood Safety Committee (ASSC)

AKOSH Consultation and Training partners with Alaska’s seafood processing industry —one of the state’s largest employers to improve worker safety through the Alaska Seafood Safety Committee (ASSC). This statewide collaboration includes 41 processing facilities and brings together industry leaders, public health professionals, and safety experts to address critical hazards and strengthen workplace safety culture. The ASSC is developing standardized safety training, a universal onboarding handbook, and the state’s first seafood-specific recognition program. Together, AKOSH and industry are building safer, healthier workplaces for Alaska’s seafood workforce.
