The Division developed this online benefit calculator to replace the rate tables previously published by the Division. The Division no longer produces rate tables. For historical rate table information from 1998 through 2015, see Historical Rate Tables.
Welcome to the Workers' Compensation Online Benefits Calculator
This calculator applies to injuries on or after July 1, 2000.
This calculator is intended as a general guide. The Division does not guarantee the accuracy of the calculations and assumes no liability for errors in the output.
Due to changes in federal tax law, taxpayers can no longer claim personal or dependency exemptions in the same manner used in prior years. The IRS 2020 Form W-4 no longer asks employees to report the number of withholding allowances claimed. This calculator uses IRS Publication 15-T, Federal Income Tax Withholding Methods, to estimate payroll deductions for 2020 through 2026.
To use the calculator:
1. Select the Type of Benefit
2. Enter the date of the work-related injury or illness in mm/dd/yyyy format
3. Enter the employee’s gross weekly wage (see description below)
4. Enter the employee’s marital status on the date of injury
5. Enter the number of qualified dependents, including the employee
Important information
When calculating workers’ compensation benefits, keep the following in mind:
- The date of injury determines the compensation rate.
- Compensation rates are based on gross earnings. The calculation varies depending on how the employee is paid, as defined in AS 23.30.220(a) and AS 23.30.395(22).
- Spendable weekly wage means gross weekly earnings minus payroll tax deductions.
- Dependents include a spouse, legally dependent children, or other individuals legally dependent upon the injured worker, as defined in AS 23.30.395.
- Compensation rates are subject to the limits established under AS 23.30.175. Annual maximum and minimum rates are published by bulletin.
Benefit descriptions
TTD (Temporary Total Disability) and PTD (Permanent Total Disability)
The compensation rate is 80% of the employee's spendable weekly wage, subject to the statutory minimum and maximum rates for the year of injury.
For 2026:
- If 80% of the spendable weekly wage is less than $358, the compensation rate is $358.
- If 80% of the spendable weekly wage is at least $358 but not more than $1,627, the compensation rate is 80% of the spendable weekly wage.
- If 80% of the spendable weekly wage is more than $1,627, the compensation rate is $1,627.
PPI - Permanent Partial Impairment
The PPI amount is the whole-person impairment rating multiplied by $273,000.
TPD - Temporary Partial Disability
The TPD rate is 80% of the difference between the spendable weekly wage before injury and the wage-earning capacity after injury.
041K - Reemployment Stipend
The 041K benefit is 70% of the employee’s spendable weekly wage, subject to the statutory maximum for the year of injury. If the employee earns wages while participating in the reemployment plan, the 041(k) payment is reduced only to the extent those wages and the 041(k) payment together exceed the employee’s temporary total disability rate.
The calculator shows the 041(k) Base Weekly Benefit, which is the starting amount before any reduction for wages earned during the reemployment process.
If the employee is earning wages while participating in the reemployment plan, enter the Weekly Wage (Post-Injury). The calculator will also show the 041(k) Adjusted Weekly Payment.
If no post-injury wages are entered, the adjusted weekly payment will be the same as the base weekly benefit.
Annual values
For 2026, the Dependent Allowance is $83, and the FICA tax rate is 7.65%.
