No. 21-08

JUNEAU, Alaska — The Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development announces a new podcast series to educate the public on its programs, services and achievements.

“Podcasts are an effective tool to highlight the great things that are happening at the Department of Labor and Workforce Development,” said Commissioner Dr. Tamika L. Ledbetter. “The interviews are interesting and engaging, and can go into a lot more depth than a typical news story.”

DOLWD’s first podcast features AVTEC Director Cathy LeCompte discussing the benefits of the Alaska Maritime Education Consortium. In Podcast #2, Unemployment Investigator Taylor West discusses common unemployment benefit issues and tips for avoiding delays. Podcast #3 includes an interview with Alaska Occupational Health and Safety Chief Elaine Banda discussing the value of Consultation and Training services provided by the state to Alaska businesses.

The department plans to have new podcasts available each month on its podcast page: labor.alaska.gov/podcasts. For more information about DOLWD’s services, visit us online at labor.alaska.gov, or follow us on Facebook or Twitter.
