Three Health Care Career Fairs May 6 In Anchorage, Fairbanks And Juneau

JUNEAU -- More than 100 employers representing health care and human services professions are scheduled to provide employment information for job seekers on Thursday, May 6, at three simultaneous career fairs in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau.
The Health Care and Human Services Career Fair will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 7 p.m. at three locations.
- Anchorage: Muldoon Job Center of the state labor department, 1251 Muldoon Road
- Fairbanks: Carlson Center, 2010 2nd Avenue
- Juneau: Tlingit-Haida Community Council Building, 3235 Hospital Drive
The career fairs are a cooperative project of the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development Job Center Network, the Alaska State Hospital and Nursing Home Association and the Alaska Alliance for Direct Service Careers (AADSC).
Labor Commissioner Greg O’Claray said organizers hope to duplicate an outstanding career fair in 2003. “Last year’s event in Anchorage was an overwhelming success. More than 1,200 persons visited 65 booths staffed by health care and human services providers.
“These career fields have urgent needs to recruit, hire, train and retain qualified staff and we especially want to provide this career information to young Alaskans and rural communities.”
Health care and human services is a major economic contributor and the fastest growing industry in Alaska with 22,000 employees. Annual health care earnings averaged more than $38,500 in 2002.
