The Arc of Anchorage is looking for students with an IEP between the ages of 14 - 21 to gain valuable work experience and training toward developing a pathway to a career.

Arctic Access
Youth participating must be between the ages of 14 and 22, and not a graduating senior, youth experiencing disabilities and in need of life skills pertaining to work-related tasks are encouraged to participate. We welcome Village Youth to Apply. Arctic Access will begin our work program July 2024 and will end in August 2024. Each youth will be offered job options and skill-oriented opportunities, job site accommodations available as needed. Each youth will work 165 hours, including 15 hours in class skills one one-on-one with Miss Peters.

Cordova School District
Cordova School District Summer Work Program begins May 28th and runs through June 30, 2024. Students will work in jobs that are right for them to learn employment skills during the 5-week program. The classroom instruction is 15 hours of paid time and during the program, the teens will learn budgeting, resume writing, job interview skills, and team building. Students will be paid for on-the-job training for a maximum of 145 hours. Teens will have the opportunity to work in the fishing industry, medical field, retail, and other customer service jobs.
We will support students ages 14-21 who are either on an IEP or 504 plan or have a barrier to employment.

FCSA - Wasilla Behavioral Health
Wasilla Behavioral Health will engage five youths between 14-18 years of age in the Summer Skill Development Work Program. The program would begin June 3rd and run through July 12th, hours 9: 00 am - 3:00 pm. In this program, the youth will learn how to work as a team and develop work skills while offering direct services to local agencies, community parks, and recreational areas. We have a couple of work sites that have received services through this program in the past years and welcome this opportunity. The youth will participate in soft skill training lessons developed to increase their knowledge of career opportunities, budgeting skills, resume writing, and interviewing practice.

The Independent Living Center
Recruiting students, age 14-21, for our Summer Work Program (SWP). Students need to be enrolled in high school for 2025 school year, have an IEP or 504 plan or have a disability. Through our program experience students have the opportunity to practice work readiness skills, explore different job options, and gain an understanding of workplace expectations while earning a wage.

KPBSD Summer Work Program
The KPBSD Summer Work Program provides students with a supportive work environment geared towards individual participant's interests, career intentions, and availability in their local community. We are currently offering programs in Seward, Homer, and the Central Peninsula. Participants will receive on and off-the-job training in needed financial and work-related skills of an employed individual.
Who can apply: A student with a disability aged 14-21 years old who has an IEP, 504 plan, or who may be potentially eligible for DVR services.

LKSD Summer Work Program
Summer Work Program trains students, ages 14-21, to enter the workforce as valuable employees, equipped with the skills necessary to attain and maintain employment. Our goal is to increase our students ability to pursue careers that pay well and are meaningful to them. This program has two components: 145 hours of direct work experience at one of the 12 local businesses and 15 hours of career coaching and soft skills training.
Who can apply: Any LKSD student ages 14-21 with a disability, IEP, 504 plan, or any youth who could potentially be at risk and quality for services.

MSBSD
MSBSD will be hosting the Achieve Summer Work Program from May 27th to June 28th. The Achieve Summer Work Program is designed, in collaboration with DVR, to provide community-based work experience for students experiencing disabilities. Students will be supported in community work sites including the following locations:
1) Recycling Center
2) Goshen Garden and Greenhouse
3) Settlers Bay Golf Course
Students participating will be guided to develop work readiness skills through 15 hours of instruction provided in a small classroom setting as well as on the worksite. Students earn $13.50 an hour.
Nine Star
Nine Star strives to provide an individualized experience for the youth working with us. We plan on tailoring, as much as possible, the interests and capabilities of each youth with Nine Star partner employers. In this way, the youth can find employment that will lead to a successful summer work experience . Dates: May 20 to July 31, 2024. SAIL - Gustavus
SAIL - Gustavus is excited to announce that we will be offering the Summer Work Program in the community of Gustavus for the first time! This is a 6-week paid work experience where they will gain valuable employment skills throughout the program. Each student will get the opportunity to work at a local business where they will identify skills needed to master the job. When students are not at their job placement sites, they will be developing team skills and discovering their own strengths and interests for future educational and career aspirations.

SAIL - Haines
SAIL - Haines summer Work Program offers a 6-week employment opportunity for students to experience working at various businesses throughout the community in a field of their interest. Students must be enrolled in school and between the ages of 14-21 to participate.
Students who have an IEP, 504 plan, or, are potentially eligible for Vocational Rehabilitation Services should apply.

SAIL -Juneau
Youth Employment in the Parks - Teens work on trails and parks throughout Juneau for full days, Monday through Thursday. Fridays will be a half day where there will be a focus on team building, discovering future work skills, and educational goals.
The program dates are June 3rd, 2024-July 26th, 2024.

SAIL - Ketchikan
The Summer Work Program is a 6-week paid work experience for students ages 14-21 where they will learn valuable employment and independent living skills. Students should be currently enrolled for the 2024-2025 school year.
Students who have an IEP, 504 plan, or who identify as having anxiety, trauma, depression, or any non-apparent disability are encouraged to apply.

SAIL Sitka
Teens work on trails and parks throughout Sitka or at an individual placement at a business or organization in town for full days Monday through Thursday. TAPESTRY Summer Academy
TAPESTRY Summer Academy is a concentrated employment preparation experience in a group environment for youth who are motivated to find a career path over the summer break from school. The academy focuses on key components of the successful University of Alaska Anchorage UAA TAPESTRY Workforce Credential. Through online research, activities, and guest speakers students work to discover their career interests, workplace values, and expectations of different careers of interest. Students will have hands-on experience, support, and instruction in several key areas of work readiness that include professional communication, teamwork, problem-solving, interpersonal skills, and disability disclosure. Finally, students participate in work-based learning. Through internships with community host businesses, students will have the opportunity to experience the workplace, practice using skills, and further explore one or more different occupations.

Metlakatla Indian Community Summer Work
Provides work opportunities for youth age 14-18 who are from the Metlakatla Indian Community and who have a documented disability, 504 plan, IEP or can be potentially eligible for DVR services. The Summer Youth Project of 2024 is a 5-week program tailored to make trails and recreational areas on the Annette Island reserve more accessible and accommodating for usage by the general public of Metlakatla. During this project, youth will use teamwork and collaborative efforts to complete projects in a timely manner. Youth will work Monday-Thursday onsite and will have Friday soft skill training days in which they will work on broadening their views of careers, budgeting, and resuming writing/interviewing.
