Be A Strong Advocate: For Yourself And Others
Advocacy is knowing what you need for yourself or others and then being able to communicate it. Students who get repeated practice with skills such as setting SMART goals, problem-solving, communication, and self-awareness will navigate work and educational opportunities more successfully.
For Students: Be a Strong Advocate gives students the opportunity to explore their interests and strengths so they are better able to overcome the challenges they will face after high school.
Be a Strong Advocate focuses on giving students of varying ability levels a vehicle to practice key social and emotional skills to build self-advocacy and self-determination skills in culturally responsive ways.
For Teachers: Advocacy for Self and Others is the instructor manual for the Be a Strong Advocate Student Workbook. The instructor manual includes lesson plans, teacher resources, adaptations, and resources.
Through the learning stories, activities, and discussion topics teachers help students identify their strengths, face challenges, and develop their “own strong voice” to communicate the support they need to be successful.
