Workforce Innovation And Opportunity Act (Wioa) Adult Program
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act calls for collaboration with partners, business, industry, education, state and local governments to strategically manage resources and achieve program performance, accountability, and customer satisfaction.
The WIOA Adult program improves the quality of the adult workforce, reduces welfare dependency, and enhances the productivity and competitiveness of Alaska’s workforce. The program provides adults with workforce preparation, career services, training services and job placement assistance needed to increase occupational skill attainment, obtain industry recognized credentials, and secure a good job that provides earnings that lead to self-sufficiency.
Program performance is measured by participant entry into unsubsidized employment, retention in unsubsidized employment, earnings received in unsubsidized employment and the rate of industry recognized credentials earned by participants.
Applicants may apply for the Adult program through an Alaska job center. All applicants may be considered eligible for services with priority given to recipients of public assistance, other low-income individuals, veterans, and individuals who are basic skills deficient.
