Alaska Department Of Labor And Workforce Development Puts Out Call For Seafood Workers

The Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development is putting out a call for summer salmon and pollock "B" seasonal workers. The following are areas with the number of seafood workers needed there immediately (NOTE: some companies provide transportation to work sites dependent on completion of contract):
 

Kenai 300
Petersburg 160
Sitka 80
Wrangell 25
Cordova 25
Bethel 20
Valdez 60

Salmon processing jobs will last approximately from now through early to late September.  Two hundred workers are also needed the end of July in Dutch Harbor to process Pollock through October.

There are three main ways to find information on these immediate openings for seafood processing jobs:

  1. Go to your nearest Alaska Job Center, or call (907)465-8900.
  2. Call Laurie Fuglvog, toll-free in the Alaska Department of Labor Seafood Employment Unit at 1-800-473-0688; have a pen and paper ready.
  3. Go to the Alaska Department of Labor's "Seafood Jobs in Alaska" Internet page at: https://labor.alaska.gov and click on "Seafood Jobs" in the top left corner.
The Anchorage Job Center, located at 3301 Eagle Street is organizing the recruitment of workers for the majority of the available seafood processing jobs in the Kenai, Petersburg, Sitka, Prince William Sound, and Dutch Harbor areas.  Seafood orientations are at 9:00 a.m. daily, Monday through Friday. Interested workers should go in directly or call the Anchorage Seafood Hotline at (907)269-4770, extension seven (7), for daily-recorded updates.
